How To Install uTorrent Server Ubuntu 18.04 Bionic Beaver

Step 1: Install uTorrent

1.1.a Run commands in root

sudo su

1.1.b Update and upgrade the server

sudo apt-get update && apt-get upgrade -y

1.2.a Install dependency libraries

sudo apt-get install libssl1.0.0 libssl-dev

1.3.a Download uTorrent for Ubuntu

sudo wget http://download-new.utorrent.com/endpoint/utserver/os/linux-x64-ubuntu-13-04/track/beta/ -O utserver.tar.gz

1.3.b Extract the file to /opt directory

sudo tar -zxvf utserver.tar.gz -C /opt/
root@plex:/# sudo tar -zxvf utserver.tar.gz -C /opt/

1.3.c  Change the permission to uTorrent directory

sudo chmod 777 /opt/utorrent-server-alpha-v3_3/

1.3.d Create a link from uTorrent Server to /user/bin directory

sudo ln -s /opt/utorrent-server-alpha-v3_3/utserver /usr/bin/utserver

1.4.a Start uTorrent

sudo utserver -settingspath /opt/utorrent-server-alpha-v3_3/ &

1.4.b Update the firewall rules to permit port 8080

sudo ufw allow 8080

1.4.c Logon to the uTorrent web client

http://xx.xx.xx.xx:8080/gui/web/index.html

The default username is admin, leave password field blank

Step 2: Configure the uTorrent Server

2.1.a Change the default user and password, go to settings then Web UI
